Body Shape and Wellness: A Diet Plan for Women

Body shape is not just luck. Three things affect it most: protein, steady weight, and strength work. Below is the plan, built from ordinary Pakistani food, along with the parts that are usually explained wrongly.

What actually affects shape?

Protein first. Everything that gives the body its shape is built from it: muscle, skin, hair. In most homes the eggs and meat go to the children and the men, and women get by on roti and tea. That is where the gap starts.

Second is weight swinging up and down. Bust and hips are partly fatty tissue, so shape changes as weight changes in either direction. Losing weight fast is the worst thing for shape; losing it slowly and keeping it off gives a better result.

Third is strength work. Light work for the chest, back and hips supports shape, and so does standing and sitting straight. All three are free, and together they do more than any supplement.

Your daily plan

Breakfast (8–9 am)
  • 1–2 eggs or a bowl of porridge
  • 1 roti
  • 1 glass of milk or a bowl of yogurt
Mid-morning
  • One fruit
  • Or 4–5 almonds and 2 dates
Lunch
  • 1–2 roti
  • Chicken, fish or daal
  • Salad and yogurt
Evening
  • Tea or milk
  • Chickpeas, makhana or fruit
Dinner
  • Roti with vegetables or soup
  • Protein: eggs, daal or chicken
  • 1 glass of milk before bed

Do this

  • Protein at every meal: eggs, yogurt, milk, daal, chickpeas or chicken. Three to four servings a day.
  • Change weight slowly. Losing more than half a kilo a week costs you shape.
  • Light strength work 2 to 3 days a week: wall push-ups, squats, hip bridges. All of it works at home.
  • A correctly fitted bra. It usually changes how shape looks more than anything else does, and it works immediately.
  • Sleep 7 to 8 hours and drink water through the day. Both show in skin and shape.

Avoid this

  • Starving or crash dieting. The weight goes, the muscle goes with it, and shape is the first casualty.
  • Skipping breakfast, then living on tea and biscuits.
  • Any hormone medicine without a doctor.
  • Spending money on creams, oils or machines that promise inches. Nothing applied from the outside changes shape.

Frequently asked questions

Can diet change body shape?

Up to a point, yes. Protein, steady weight and exercise together make a difference. But height, frame and your natural shape do not change, and anyone promising otherwise is not worth believing.

How long before I see anything?

Usually 2 to 3 months, and firmness shows before size does. Every body is different.

What about pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Focus on strength rather than shape then. Eat properly, do not starve, and ask your own doctor before taking any supplement.
