Weight Gain: Tips, a Daily Plan and Every Guide

Gaining weight is not just about eating more. The rule is simple: every day you need a little more energy than your body burns. The plan below is built from ordinary Pakistani home food, not expensive imported supplements. It works for men and women alike.

Why is your weight not going up?

The most common reason is a small appetite. Many people say they eat a lot, but when a week is written down the daily total comes out below what the body needs. The second reason is eating only three times a day with nothing in between, which keeps the daily total low.

The third is a fast metabolism, which often runs in the family. Those people need a little more food, a little more often. The fourth is a medical cause such as a thyroid problem, diabetes, worms or general weakness. If weight keeps dropping, get checked by a doctor first.

Remember, weight goes up only when the body gets more calories than it needs each day. Around 300 to 500 extra calories a day usually means about 2 to 4 kg in a month. That is why the plan below puts a snack between every meal.

Your daily plan

Breakfast (7–9 am)
  • 2 eggs (omelette or boiled)
  • 2 paratha or 2 roti with butter
  • 1 glass of full cream milk
  • 5–6 almonds or walnuts
Mid-morning (11 am)
  • Banana shake: 1 glass milk + 1 banana + 1 tbsp honey
  • Or a handful of dates and nuts
Lunch (1–2 pm)
  • 2–3 roti or a large plate of rice
  • Chicken, meat or daal (a good big serving)
  • 1 bowl of yogurt
  • Salad: cucumber, tomato, carrot
Evening (5 pm)
  • 1 sandwich or 1 paratha with tea
  • Or peanut butter on 2 slices of bread
Dinner (8–9 pm)
  • 2 roti
  • Vegetables or meat
  • 1 bowl of daal or chickpeas
  • 1 glass of lassi or milk
Before bed
  • 1 glass of warm milk, with a spoon of honey if you like

Do this

  • Three main meals and 2–3 snacks every day. Never skip a meal.
  • Protein at every meal: eggs, milk, yogurt, daal, chickpeas, chicken, meat.
  • Weight training 3–4 days a week. Without it, the weight you gain is fat, not muscle.
  • Drink water between meals rather than with them, or your stomach fills up too early.
  • Sleep 7–8 hours. Muscle is built during sleep.

Avoid this

  • Gaining weight on junk food alone: burgers and cold drinks add fat, not health.
  • Trying to gain more than one kilo a week.
  • Tea on an empty stomach, or too much tea and coffee, which kills the appetite.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to gain weight?

A healthy pace is about half a kilo to one kilo a week, so 2 to 4 kg in a month. It depends on your age, metabolism and how consistent you are.

I eat a lot but my weight still does not go up. Why?

Usually the real intake is lower than it feels, or the appetite is simply small. Write down everything you eat for a week and look at it. Hard Gainer exists for exactly that appetite problem.

Is this plan for women too?

Yes. Adjust the portion sizes to your appetite, everything else stays the same.
